ÒR Staff Picks, What Would You Choose?

If you’re still looking for that personal Christmas present, and are frankly trying to steer clear of Amazon, look no further than the ÒR handmade Christmas gift guide – as chosen by our own members of staff!

We spend all year researching and rummaging around for the best independent businesses and craftspeople from Skye, from Scotland and from all over the world, because we believe that shopping small, local and independent is beneficial for everyone. So to celebrate this each of us have chosen our favourite independent and handmade items stocked in ÒR. All perfect for Christmas, all made with love.

And you know what they say: every time you buy from an independent business, someone somewhere does a tiny happy dance. A nice way to spread a bit of festive cheer and kindness, no?

For coffee aficionados

The woman with the bells-and-whistles coffee machine in her home has chosen the Clod & Pebble handmade mug as her handmade Christmas gift item. Anna’s choice: Collingwood-Norris RUM hat & scarf

For the outdoorsperson… who makes it fashion

Doesn’t Anna look ready for a snowy winter in this cosy lambswool knitwear from Collingwood-Norris? Made in the Scottish Borders by Flora Collingwood-Norris, these hat and scarves can be mix & matched in a range of colours, and of course being Scottish, this company knows a thing or two about keeping out the cold (as do we, come to think of it!)

Not technically a homemade Christmas gift, but because we love them so much…

7.     Chloe’s choice: Lightstyle Pom pom lights

For: the Christmas minimalist

None of us can really resist these electric pompom lights that manage to look both cosy and snowy at the same time. Drape around a tree, mantelpiece, bannister - or like Chloe, just carry them around with you and veritably glow with Christmas spirit.

Hopefully this has given you some handmade Christmas gift ideas - and inspired you to shop local this Christmas as well!
